Imaging tests help doctors understand the exact cause of pain, injury or joint problems and choose the most appropriate treatment.
Common investigations include X-rays, MRI scans, CT scans and ultrasound imaging depending on the condition.
MRI is usually recommended for evaluating soft tissues such as ligaments, tendons, cartilage, nerves and spinal structures.
Accurate diagnosis can help identify suitable non-surgical treatments and may prevent unnecessary procedures in selected cases.
Sometimes. Blood investigations may help identify inflammation, nutritional deficiencies, arthritis-related conditions or other causes.
The choice of imaging depends on symptoms, clinical examination and suspected condition.
At Secure Clinics, our X-Ray Machine has longer plates hence reducing the radiation exposure and the requirement of the number of imaging shots are cut down to half.
Yes. Follow-up imaging may help doctors assess healing and treatment progress.
A DEXA scan (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry scan) is an advanced imaging test used to measure bone mineral density and assess bone strength and body fat analysis. It is considered the gold-standard test for diagnosing osteoporosis and osteopenia (low bone density).
Doctors recommend a DEXA scan to diagnose osteoporosis, detect osteopenia (early bone loss), assess fracture risk, monitor bone health during treatment, evaluate age-related bone weakening, and check bone loss risk due to certain medications or conditions.
A DEXA scan measures the amount of calcium and other minerals present in your bones. It commonly evaluates hip bone density, spine (lumbar vertebrae) and forearm/wrist when required. Results are reported as T-score (comparing bone density with a healthy young adult, used to diagnose osteoporosis) and Z-score (comparing bone density with people of similar age). Body fat analysis measures body fat percentage, lean muscle mass and bone mineral density by analysing the body segment by segment, providing far more detail than a single number.
It may be recommended for people at risk of osteoporosis, post-menopausal women, older adults, patients with previous fractures, individuals with risk factors for bone loss, and patients undergoing osteoporosis treatment monitoring.
